I get out of bed, get dressed, and pull out some Oreos for breakfast. I then go to brush my teeth with my electric tooth brush, and comb my hair.
I get to class on my hover board, with only my laptop in hand. Everything is now done on the computer, the books are online and all the assignments are emailed to the professors. Even for math, there is a program that allows you to write math problems, symbols and all.
I then head to lunch, where you can do a self serve scanning of your card.
Later back in my dorm, I put on my 3D glasses and watch television or a movie.

The Internet: A Clear and Present Danger?
In this article, Cathleen A Cleaver points out the dangers faced by people on the Internet. The main danger in this article is pornogrophy. The author then goes on to explain the situation between today's children and pornogrophy.
If children are searching for something and do not know how to do so correctly, they might end up on a website that can “mess them up.” I myself sometimes ended up on a website with some disturbing pictures when I was still learning about the Internet.

Movie Trailer (Blog 5)
The Princess and the Frog trailer, begins with scenes of previous Disney classics Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and The Lion King before opening up to the movie. The first Princess and the Frog scene to appear is a comedy. Tiana is standing at the balcony when she sees a frog. She rhetorically asks the frog if he'd like a kiss, in reference to the story The Frog Prince. The surprise here is that the frog all of a sudden speaks to her and she wacks it with a book. The trailer then imposes a slight fear as the villain is seen. It then returns to comedy as viewers watch the frog dancing and explaining what happened to him. Everyone thinks they know the story, but Disney added a twist. Rather than the frog turning back into a prince, Tiana is turned into a frog. The trailer then concludes with scenes from the movie.
The trailer definitley got me interested in the movie, which I really enjoyed.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!! (Blog 4)
Recently I saw Disney's new movie, The Princess and the Frog. The movie included not just the twist to the original story when Naveen mistakes Tiana for a princess, but also comedy and music which keeps its audience interested. I think that the movie is good not just for kids, but for teens and adults too.

Banning Books: The Myth of Social Consensus
Basically, Tisdale is saying that people ban books because of their effect on society's status quo but they claim that it is to prevent dangerous events, such as Romeo and Juliet causing teen suicide. Some restricted/banned books include Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, Sleeping Beauty, Tom Sawyer, Tarzan of the Apes, and A Wrinkle in Time. Some of these books were said to be too gruesome or dark, or too occult.
First of all, most of these books are about good verses evil. SW, H&G, SB, do have some evil characters in them but who always wins in the end? The good guys, they always win. So get a life. Second, this occult stuff, just because someone reads about magic or wicca, doesn't mean they believe in it. It's just a book, entertainment. Harry Potter fans should read the following article: http://www.mugglenet.com/editorials/editorials/edit-amandah01.shtml Furthermore, if books encourage anything, it is imagination. Without imagination, we would be stuck exactly where we are today. No new medicine, technology, books, shows, music, or movies. How many times are you gonna be stuck watching March of the Penguins, listening to Black Eyed Peas' songs, playing Mario-Kart, or reading the same manga? We need imagination in order to move forward in time.

Immokalee
The video is about the development of Immokalee (Seminole for "My Home"). The Seminole Indians migrated there but then left when European pioneers began showing up and using the land for farming and cattle. It goes on to mention the obstacles Immokalee survived such as the tick that caused the death of a lot of the cattle, the development of the railroad, and the building of casinos. Even today, Immokalee is still a farming area.
I grew up in Miami, a city life. Everywhere I look there are more and more buildings.
I believe that Immokalee is representative of the New American Dream. Change occurs but Immokalee is able to adapt and face these changes.
Immokalee will be driven by new companies, looking to buy land in order to make more money. I believe that 10 years from now, Immokalee will be basically the same as it is now, a rural farming area.

A Quilt of a Country: Out of Many, One?
In her article, Anna Quindlen points out the American idea that "All men are created equal", but that in reality, there are people in America who think that they are better than everyone else. She describes America as a quilt, and the different cultures brought to this country, are the pieces that make the quilt. She goes on to point out that rather than a union, we have a partition: slavery, lack of women's rights, and the murder of gay men.
I totally agree with Anna. This country was first created to be somewhat of a Eutopia, bringing together people of different backgrounds. It was supposed to be an escape from the troubles of their country. Instead, we are living a lie. Even after the abolishment of slavery, African Americans were still treated like trash. Women had to fight to gain equal rights, but after all the effort, women are still not quite there. It takes a national crisis, such as a World War or a terrorist attack, to bring together the people of this country. Will this country ever live up to its name, or will it continue to live a lie?
